Taxes
They say you can’t avoid death or taxes. Well I’ve taken care of what has to be done when I die, so let’s look at taxes.
John E. Sununu says that if we vote for him, we won’t have to pay taxes. I like having my roads plowed and maintained, police and fire protection and other government services. I know since I’m not a “Free Stater,” I’ll have to pay for them.
Now the problem is how do we do that?
We could continue on our present course and ask the elderly on Social Security to contribute more property tax, or what if we wanted an income tax with say a large deductible, like $200,000. There are other taxes that could controlled by deductibles that would place the burden on those who could most afford it.
While we might not be able to avoid taxes, fair taxes would be an easier pill to swallow.
