Enough is enough
It’s no secret that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu supported and facilitated the transfer of millions of dollars to Hamas via Qatar prior to Oct. 7, 2023. Netanyahu’s strategy was to try to strengthen Hamas so that there would be a vying for power between Hamas and the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank. His intention was to minimize the chances of the formation of a Palestinian state.
After Oct. 7, 2023, which was a horrific act perpetrated by Hamas, the act prompted retaliatory action by Israel. The Israel-Gaza war that followed resulted in the killing of over 20,000 Palestinian children. Netanyahu’s refrain was we’re trying to eliminate Hamas. The Prime Minister is culpable for funding Hamas militants for many years prior to Oct. 7. Then he makes an about face and says they’re the enemy.
On average, U.S. military aid funds 15% of Israel’s military budget annually. The question is why do we keep spending U.S. tax dollars to feed this futile cycle? A recent proposal has been brought forward by the Trump Administration to send more military weapons worth $2.8 billion including 40,000 I-2000 penetrator warheads to Israel.
Please call the offices of Sen. Jeanne Shaheen and Sen. Maggie Hassan and urge them to oppose the military weapons proposal. Explain that U.S. taxpayer dollars need to be used here at home to benefit U.S. citizens and not used to destroy lives overseas.
