John Stark Athletic Director Rodney Brown was given special recognition for his work. He received the 2026 National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association’s (NIAAA) State Award of Merit.
He was chosen because of his efforts to develop good sportsmanship and committed involvement with both the New Hampshire Athletic Director Association (NHADA) and New Hampshire Interscholastic Athletic Association (NHIAA).
In a press release, the NIAAA wrote that it provides the annual award to a deserving NIAA member in each state for meritorious contributions education-based athletics.
“He was given the award and recognized as a premier leader in athletic administration,” wrote the NIAAA.
Brown co-chairs the NHADA Outreach Committee and has served as a member of the NHIAA Indoor Track and Field Committee for four years. Previously, as Mascoma’s AD, he established the school’s first varsity girls’ soccer program and at John Stark he helped the school earn its first NHIAA Sportsmanship Award in 2023.
