Vietnam vet needs you!
There is a real nice man who is a Vietnam vet who is sitting in the island of the Market Basket and Lowe’s exit on Fort Eddy Road just holding a cardboard sign asking for a little help in paying his rent.
I took my chance and parked the car up at the end of the parking lot and brought him over some food and drink. I introduced myself to him and he did the same. His name is Stewart, and he is a kind and passive man who’s been through a serious operation and left him little ability to walk.
Each week, I stop and donate something to him and give him food and ice water too on those hot sunny days. His lips were all chapped and I just happened to have an extra lip ointment in my car to give to him.
We got into a little more conversation yesterday and he doesn’t want any of his nine kids to know that he is going through a very rough time. He has helped all of them when he was a working man to get into homes of their own. He has a lot of pride and doesn’t want to interfere in their lives even though his youngest offered him a place to stay in her home.
That entrance is a very busy location and I just wish there would be a lot more kindness and donations coming in for him to pay his half of rent and utilities without having to sit out there with a sign asking for help from strangers.
Winter is coming, and he’s in no physical condition to endure a long cold winter sitting on a lawn chair asking for help.
So please everyone who is reading this, can you please help him?
