History repeats itself
President Trump has said that he hopes he is not a repeat of President Herbert Hoover (the Great Depression) but perhaps he should worry more about repeating the errors of President Warren G. Harding.
From the year 1923, a couple of lines from “Enemies – A History of the FBI” by Tim Weiner: “The American government now seems likelier to fall by the weight of its own corruption. The Justice Department and the Bureau of Investigation (former name of the FBI) were at the rotten core of it.”
“The truths came out. The Harding administration from the top down, had been led by men who worshiped money and business, disdained government and law and misled the American people.”
The old adage continues to be true — “Those who are ignorant of history are doomed to repeat it.”
