Don’t be fooled by Sununu

Don’t be fooled, New Hampshire voters, by John Sununu’s “No Tax Increase Slogan” to garner votes in this Senate election. I do not welcome increased taxes, but as I think about the tax cuts in the President’s Big Beautiful, the consequences were underestimated.

This bill has adversely affected Medicaid and Medicare reimbursements. A proposed change to Medicare could significantly affect access to orthopedic care by cutting payment for many orthopedic procedures — including hip and knee replacement, and shoulder surgery by as much as 20%. This will affect many of us seniors. Medicaid cuts affect nursing home care and children’s medical care. Will New Hampshire Republicans make up the difference?

We want good roads, but cutting gas taxes limits that. We want public schools, but Republicans have not only been responsible for raising property taxes; they are also diverting our tax money to private schools or home schooling with no oversight.

As Senator in 2008 during the financial crisis, John Sununu voted to bail out the financial industry, particularly banking that had no regulation leading to the crisis. On the Economic Recovery Act to stabilize collapsing housing, he voted “Nay!” Remember those friends underwater when their mortgage no longer matched their home’s value?

Don’t be fooled by no tax increase. Promises to end wars, lower inflation and gas prices did not materialize while ego construction wasted money along with grift was rampant! Will Sununu truly stand up to the President and party?
