Waste, corruption and debt
Borrow and spend is what we have from the Republicans in Washington. Despite DOGE firing federal employees and gutting vital federal programs, the federal deficit in fiscal year 2026 was $1.97 trillion and the national debt now exceeds $40 trillion.
The Iran war costs $1.2 billion each day, and the Pentagon wants an additional $67 billion. Other examples of waste include the ballroom that was $927 million, reflecting pool was $19 million, and the Triumphal Arch was $100 million. Overall, the Trump vanity projects will cost over $1.4 billion.
In 2025, Trump’s personal fortune increased by $2.2 billion, while millions of Americans struggle to pay for food, gas and healthcare. Now Trump is attempting to bribe us with our own money. ($5,000 to every adult, increasing the debt that taxpayers will repay)
Republicans in Congress have been complacent and refuses to hold the Trump Administration accountable. The last time we had a balanced budget and ran a surplus was ’98-’01, during the Clinton Administration.
We need to restore fiscal responsibility by electing Democrats. We also need to restore our system of checks and balances by electing Democrats who will reestablish effective congressional oversight. We need to elect Chris Pappas and Maggie Goodlander.
