The truth about taxes
I keep driving past big signs that say to vote Democrat for lower taxes. Before you believe a sign, look at the votes.
On March 5, the New Hampshire House voted on CACR 10, a constitutional amendment that would have banned an income tax in this state for good. It needed 60% to pass. It failed, because 98% of House Democrats voted no. You can see how every representative voted at noincometaxnh.com/vote.
They are not hiding what comes next. Democratic Rep. Ellen Read has already filed a bill for 2027 titled “establishing an income tax and establishing a sales tax on certain luxury goods.” Former Democratic Executive Councilor Andru Volinsky is promoting a plan for a 3% income tax and a new statewide property tax of $3 per $1,000.
That is an income tax, a sales tax and a second property tax. None of that is lower taxes.
If you want New Hampshire to stay the state with no income tax and no sales tax, vote Republican on Nov. 3.
