Question 2 is a Trojan Horse
Vote No on Question 2.
It is a Trojan horse; you know the story. The horse, or in this case Question 2, was created to fool us into seeing something good and desirable while hiding the true intent. In Troy, it was the army that destroyed the city, and in Question 2’s case, the intent is to defund our public schools. The Free-Stater/Libertarian-run Republican Party cut revenue from high-wealth individuals and corporations while spending indiscriminately on the voucher program, which funneled our tax dollars to private and religious schools. The state drastically decreased its support for public schools, which “downshifted” the tax burden from the State to local property owners.
Question 2 pretends to solve the money problem. It doesn’t.
Education, including public, private, religious and lifelong learning, is one of the most important values of our Democratic society. However, public funds should only be spent on public education. New Hampshire has always prided itself on its educated population. We need a strong public education system to attract high-earning, educated families and high-paying industries, both of which will help reduce the overall tax burden.
So don’t fall for the Trojan horse. Vote No on Question 2, and while you’re there, vote for the Democrats so the Republicans can rebuild their party without the Free-Stater/Libertarians who clearly don’t understand the value of education or democracy.
