We will do better with Rebecca Harned
There have been a couple of letters in the last few days touting Senator Dan Innis in Senate District 7.
One speaks to his opposition to data centers. Dan Innis supported an amendment to regulatory legislation that permitted data centers within current commercial and industrial zones — NOT a moratorium. The bill failed.
Dan Innis was the prime sponsor of the legislation that put Question 2 on our ballots. This is the mandatory vote on capping school budgets. He represents a district (Kearsarge) where voters overwhelmingly voted no on a tax cap in 2025. He lost and used his position in the state Senate to try and force the will of the state on our communities.
Dan Innis was also a sponsor of a bill that permits 25 voters to petition to close a school. There’s now an effort to close the community school in Sutton. These petitions can come back again and again.
All of us are trying to figure out ways to lower our property taxes, but many of us understand that siphoning state money to Education Freedom Accounts (vouchers), refusing to follow court orders for the state to adequately fund public education are drivers of our high taxes and undercut our communities. Dan Innis and other Republicans in the State House are bending over backwards refusing to do what actually needs to be done.
I do not think Innis represents our communities very well. Support Rebecca Harned because we deserve better.
