Healthcare is at risk

Vice President JD Vance proudly announced last month that 750,000 people have been cut from the Affordable Care Act. He said they’d check later to see if eligible people were dropped. MAGA just assumes they’ve all been cheating the system. This reeks of contempt for every non-privileged American.

It also means 182,000 Granite Staters will lose healthcare coverage. In a recent debate, candidates for District 1 U.S. House of Representatives were asked what they would do about this. Democrat Stefany Shaheen supports strengthening publicly funded healthcare, which has been cost-effective and successful. Republican Anthony DiLorenzo wants to “increase competition” among private providers.

The GOP has peddled the fantasy for 40 years that feeding the maw of private corporations will someday benefit consumers. In fact, we’re paying double the costs among all “wealthy” nations and rank dead last for every measure of wellness.

It’s about to get worse. Trump’s Medicare and Medicaid cuts go into effect in January. John and Jean Middle Class will be paying thousands more every year, and millions will be sicker, poorer and more at risk of ending up in underfunded, understaffed and inhumane nursing facilities, or worse.

We need to repeal GOP politicians who represent corporations and replace them with Democrats who support universal healthcare. Then we need to make sure they end the cozy relationships between government and industry that are costing us all so much.
