Handicap parking tape off sign holders
On primary day, I pulled into my polling place in Canterbury to find a handicapped parking place blocked off with yellow tape to create a space for sign holders. They were comfortably ensconced with their signs and coffee and donuts. When I complained about this I was directed to a woman who claimed responsibility and stated that it was OK because there were other handicapped spots. A high voter turnout could mean that all the designated spaces would be full.
I believe this to be in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which mandates that accessible parking spaces and clear routes to the building are provided and maintained throughout Election Day. I hope it will not be repeated on Nov. 3.
