After a four-day jury trial, Douglas Frechette was found guilty on Monday of sexually abusing his son over a period of 10 years.

Frechette was convicted on 19 charges: 18 counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault and one count of incest.

The abuse came to light in 2025, when Joseph Frechette, who also goes by Joey, went to the police at the age of 23. He reported that both his mother and father had sexually abused him between the ages of 6 and 16 in the different homes and campgrounds where the family lived, including locations in New Boston, Hillsborough, Henniker, Dunbarton and Weare.

Frechette, his wife, Kimberly Frechette, and their son, Joseph, all took the stand during last week’s trial. Testimony went into the details of the abuse and was graphic.

“Both parents failed to protect Joey,” said Jeffrey Tynes, public defender, in his closing arguments.

Kimberly Frechette is currently serving time in prison after pleading guilty in September to taking part in the abuse at one of the places the family lived.

Douglas Frechette is scheduled to be sentenced at Merrimack County Superior Court on Dec. 17. In New Hampshire, a conviction for aggravated sexual assault can carry a sentence of 10 to 20 years in state prison.
