Undo the damage
The democratic party is finding itself in the majority in both houses of Congress with, I suppose, many paths to choose from for effective governing. Trump will be gone in just two more years and left with just his loyal supporters to lament his leaving.
My personal hope is that they do not spend their time trying to impeach Trump. There is no real avenue to succeed there. Instead, maybe they can focus on reversing policies that have hurt so many Americans because of callous and malicious policies. To list just a few: end the Iran war that has no support, stop DOGE and the damage done and the unlawfulness of its actions, reverse the gutting of programs that targeted food assistance, bring back the idea that there is nothing wrong supplying free school lunches to kids k-12, determine how much corporations profited from the tariffs and return that money to the general budget for better use, reverse the billionaire tax cuts and at a minimum tax them at levels similarly to the early 80s, bring back the subsidies and more to really help everyone obtain healthcare, and the list could go on.
Because cruelty has been the point of the Trump administration, the new incoming Congress will hopefully bring back kindness and ideals that effectively truly support the totality of the American citizens and improve and revive a future of real hope. Govern with a vengeance but not retribution.
