This Tuesday, March 10, my fellow voters will have the opportunity to select members of their community to serve on the Shaker Regional School Board. I am asking for your support as you enter the polls.
It seems apt to point out that it is thanks to this district that I can write this letter. From my ABC’s until my graduation in 1999, Shaker’s dedicated faculty and staff supported me. With gratitude to them, I went on to study education and psychology at Saint Michael’s College in Vermont, earning a bachelor’s degree in 2003.
Since the fall of 2003, I have been immersed in the field of education. I believe that my background will make me an asset to the district. It is this experience, come by honestly, which I hope to bring to the board. I relish the opportunity to grow into a new role to support students.
My family has deep roots in the Shaker soil. My grandmother, Sue Roberts, and my grandfather, Norman Bolduc, both spent years being late to dinner following board meetings. My father, Roy Roberts, though never late to dinner, followed their example helping to better our schools. I thank them in part for the education that I, and now my daughters, have received in Belmont.
In closing, I trust Shaker Regional with what is most precious to me, and I hope you will trust me to work on your behalf to make it a better place for your children.
