The First United Methodist Church of Gilford is collecting items for its annual auction scheduled for Aug. 3. Auctioneer Jerry Love will take your bids on a variety of great items and there will also be a silent auction and flea market. Needed are good used items including antiques, furniture, household items and outdoor sporting goods and furnishings; new items, or services that you have to offer. The church is also collecting gift certificates and items from businesses. The auction is held to supplement income and proceeds are used toward keeping the building open for a variety of groups, including Girl Scouts, health seminars, theater and musical groups. Space is available in select weeks of The Carriage Barn’s annual summer horse clinics. Horsemanship clinics for beginner and independent riders age 6 to 15 run weekly from late June through late August. A kids’ carriage driving clinic will run from Aug. 1 through 5 for beginner through advanced levels. Clinics generally run Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. No previous experience or equipment is required.
