More than 100 youngsters – spread over three different fields – ignored the rain as Hopkinton held its annual Easter egg hunt at Harold Martin School Saturday morning. For Viktoria Perry, it meant dodging other little hunters as the groups scrambled to get as many eggs as possible. But in the end, Perry had a full basket of eggs and her face painted.

Besides the egg hunt, local children gathered in the school’s gym for games, food and a chance to meet the Easter bunny. Hopkinton Recreation Director Paula Simpkins estimated there were more than 1,000 eggs that were scooped up in a matter of minutes in spite of the light rain as the kids gathered. “This is New England. We’re ready for anything. We advertised that we were doing this outside, so be ready,” Simpkins said.

Besides the Easter egg hunt, the Hopkinton Recreation Committee puts on several events for the children of the town, including a Halloween Howl, breakfast with Santa and the Fourth of July parade.
