The value of flexible work

Gov. Maggie Hassan recently signed into law Senate Bill 416. This bill prohibits employers from retaliating against an employee solely because the employee requests a flexible work schedule.

As the mother of a young child, the availability of flexible working arrangements has allowed me to stay in the workforce, continue to do work I’m passionate about and develop my career, while also meeting the needs of my family.

We all know that New Hampshire’s population is aging and that to sustain our economy, we need to enact policies that attract young people to our beautiful state. Senate Bill 416 is a step in that direction and sends a positive message to young families that New Hampshire is a family- and worker-friendly state.
