Auditions for New Hampshire Theatre Project’s Youth Repertory Company will be held Sept. 12 and 13 from 4 to 8 p.m. at West End Studio Theatre, 959 Islington St., Portsmouth. The auditions are open to youth and teens age 10 to 17. To schedule an audition time, contact 431-6644, ext. 4, or info@nhtheatreproject.org. For auditions, memorize two contrasting one to two-minute monologues, bring a headshot and resume, or list of theatre experiences and related skills. Students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian since auditions will include a short interview with student and parent/guardian.
Granite United Way will host its annual Day of Caring on Sept. 7, during which citizens and the corporate community support the work of non-profit agencies. Non-profit organizations in need of a helping hand are encouraged to register their projects (such as painting, window washing, repairs, clean-up and administrative help) by emailing Val Guy at Val.Guy@graniteuw.org. On Sept. 24, the Franklin Animal Shelter will host its second annual Paws in the Park fundraiser, sponsored by Watts Water Technology, at Odell Park. The rain-or-shine event will begin with the “Paws Walk” at 8:30 a.m. and continue until 2 p.m. with live dog demonstrations, vendors, a chowder competition and fun. Mix 94.1 will be doing a live broadcast from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The shelter is looking for walkers, vendors and chowder contestants.
