CANTERBURYKindergarten registration

■Do you have a student who will be five years old by Sept. 30? It’s time to think about registering for Kindergarten! An online Kindergarten registration for the 2022 to 2023 school year will be open during the week of March 14 through 18. You can also register in person at CES during this week from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. To access the online registration, please go to sau80.org: Kindergarten Registration/ALMA Start

■Maple Season is here at the Canterbury Community Farmers Market. Did you know that the New Hampshire Maple Producers Association, Inc, has been around for almost 80 years and helps promote the high quality of New Hampshire’s maple tradition?! March is Maple Sugaring Month and during this time, many New Hampshire sugar houses open their doors to the public. People can explore many different sugarhouses across New Hampshire and purchase maple products to enjoy at home! We have many sugarhouses right here in Canterbury, so plan your trip today! You will not want to miss our very own vendor, North Family Farm during Maple Weekend!

■Maple weekend is happening this year from March 19 to 20. Please check your planned destination ahead of time for any COVID protocols for visiting and/or buying exceptions and times of operation. To prepare for Maple Weekend, most locations are rustic, and most will be muddy, so make sure to dress in layers and wear closed toe or insulated footwear.

■The next Library Trustee meeting is on March 14 at 7 p.m. in the library.

■New time and day for the Evening Book Group – March 16 at 6 p.m. We’ll be reading “The Four Winds” by Kristin Hannah. The story is about a woman trying to raise two children on farm in the Great Plains during the Dust Bowl following the Great Depression. Copies are available at the library and can be downloaded on Hoopla and NH Downloadable Books. Come get your copy today. Rose leads a wonderful discussion back at the fireplace. This group meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m.

■Come join Mary Ellen for a new program entitled “Murder, Mayhem and Misadventure.” Together we will explore the many books that capture our imagination about Murder (meaning quite clear), Mayhem (violent or damaging disorder; chaos), and Misadventure (an unfortunate incident; a mishap). We will share what we have read and get recommendations from each other about favorite books and authors. We will also discuss books that have been made into movies and which ones live up to the “hype.” After the first meeting we will all discuss where we would like to take this group for future meetings. We will meet the fourth Tuesday of each month at 2 p.m. Our first meeting is March 22, at 2 p.m.

■On Pins and Needles. This new handiwork club is already attracting many fiber artists and beginners looking to start a new hobby. Bring your knitting, crochet, embroidery, felting or other fiber craft along and join Cheryl by the fireplace at 2 p.m. every Wednesday. All levels welcome. This is a lovely time to sit with friends and visit.
