A week or so ago, a letter writer mentioned that there was very little good news about New Hampshire on the national level. The Nation magazine had a great article on March 15 about school board races in New Hampshire where voters in 29 of 30 (29!) races sent pro public school advocates to serve on their local school boards. It didn’t matter if the town was red, blue or polka dotted, voters of all political backgrounds rejected candidates (including incumbents) who called for book bans, the dishonest teaching of history, teacher censorship, anti-LGBTQ regulations and other right wing “hot buttons.”

The article concluded that perhaps these hot button issues aren’t really what people want. So why does governor “I’m a Trump guy, through and through” Sununu, our anti-public education Commissioner of Education Frank Edelbut, and the various members of the NH House and Senate keep trying to push unpopular anti-education, anti-voter and anti-abortion laws and regulations? As public servants, who are they serving?
