■Allenstown Board of Selectmen meeting will be on March 21 at 6 p.m. at the Town Hall.

■The Suncook Senior Center is planning a trip with Royal Tours on June 16 to see “Studio Two,” New England’s Best Beatles Tribute Band in Westport, Massachusetts. The cost is $105 per person. This includes transportation, dining room taxes, gratuities, live show, driver’s gratuity of $1. You will have a choice for Lunch with Chicken Piccata or Baked Scrod served with potato, vegetable, coffee, and dessert. There are three groups going on this trip and limited seating per group, so first come first served. ■The Granite Visiting Nurse Health Clinic will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. the second Thursday of the month. Services offered include: foot care, blood pressure screening, medication education, and nutritional education. Call 1 (603) 224-4093 ext. 5815 for an appointment. Please note that starting in April the clinic will be the second Wednesday of the month. The April clinic date is April 13.

CHICHESTERPlayer of the Year

■Isaac Jarvis of Chichester has been named Player of the Year as a Concord Christian Senior Basketball Player. This prestigious award was announced by the NH Basketball Coaches Organization. Isaac earned the title in Division-IV as First Team member and All Defensive Team. He was a recipient of the Jack Ford Memorial Scholar Athlete award.

■The Chichester Library is having a busy week for patrons. The Book Group will be discussing “KooKooLand,” a memoir by Gloria Norris, on March 21 at 6 p.m. The Knitting Group will meet March 22 at 3:30 p.m. Music and Movement is a program for young children that happens on Thursdays at 9:45 a.m. Singing, reading and dancing is enjoyed. March is Read Across America month drop by the library and see the new books that are available.

■The Chichester Fire/Rescue Department issued a thank you to all who attended their open house and information night. Department Officers, volunteer firemen and inhouse students greeted visitors and showed equipment and uses. Younger children enjoyed the big fire trucks and fun materials for them to take home. The Chichester Historical Society was able to pick up items to put in their fire department album. Smoke detectors are available at the station for anyone who needs one. The Fire Department meets every Monday night and welcome visitors.

■The Chichester PTO is looking for old, but clean, plastic Easter eggs. The PTO is planning a special Easter event for the community and want lots of eggs. If you have some you no longer use, drop them off at the school.

■The Out of Your Attic Thrift Shop have shelves with displays of Easter decorations. Drop by and see what they have.

■The school drama club has chosen “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown,” for their spring production. Grades 3 through 8 will be doing rehearsals weekly.

■Chichester resident Rebecca Suomala was featured on the WMUR-TV special segment “Enjoy Your Yard Year Round.” Rebecca is with the NH Audubon Society and is senior biologist and Citizen Science Bird Data Project Leader.

■NH DOT have had 20 vehicles hit in 2022. Please slow down and move over when seeing red/blue and amber lights when approaching our Chichester Police, highway and emergency vehicles. Its for everyone safety.

■Chichester Police Chief Patrick Clarke has announced his retirement in July 2022. In 1998 Pat started his law enforcement in Sanbornton. In 1999 he started as a full time officer in Chichester and rose through the ranks to become Chichester’s first full time Police Chief. Selectmen Richard Bouchard at town meeting announced to the public attending of the chiefs retirement and a standing ovation was given.

■The Board of Selectmens office has added hours to serve the public: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and Tuesday (8 a.m. to 7 p.m.). The Town Clerks hours have not changed, Monday (8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.), Tuesday (8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m.), Wednesday and Thursday (8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.). Residents are encouraged to visit the town website and explore all the information and features.

■The Chichester Youth Association has made available for Chichester ball players to practice indoors for preseason training at the Elite Sport Academy in Epsom on March 26 from 4 to 6 p.m.

■The Chichester Town Meeting on March 12 voted to keep our firefighters and rescue people healthy. The town voted to purchase a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus Breathing Air Compressor/fill station for the station. This will replace the obsolete SCBA station that failed its air quality test for the past two years. The failure resulted in potential unhealthy air being inhaled by members. The appropriation of $98,000 was approved with $35,000 coming from the SCBA Capitol Reserve Fund and remaining $63,000 coming from general taxation.

■The Chichester Firefighter’s Association is sponsoring a House Number Campaign. The fire/rescue responds to approximately 500 calls for service each year and time can be a critical link. In many cases house numbers are not visible to responding units and can cause delays. The Chichester Firefighters Association would like to provide a method by which all residents can obtain a house number and are selling address signs. These highly reflective signs will display your address number on both sides either vertical or horizontal. The signs will be made to order and will come with a bracket to hold the sign that is suitable to use on top of a mailbox, or on a post. If you need assistance in placing or installing your sign, an Association member will come out to assist you. The cost for a sign and bracket is $20. ■Mooncusser Maple is a local sap house in town. The business is family owned and operated. Stop by 53 Ring Road and they offer syrup, candy and clothing. Shipping is available.

■Chichester Police Officer Phil Armone was featured on WMUR as CHaD Battle of the Badges MVP for the police team. Armone got a great goal for the win. Local town officials, members of the Police Dept and residents were in attendance and cheered heavily during the entire game.

■The Chichester Cemetery Trustees have begun removing the “Remembrance Wreaths” from veterans gravesites this week. Volunteers for this project would be greatly appreciated. The wreaths can be dropped off at the Historical Society building on the ground near the side door. Please leave the shepherd’s hooks at the gravesite.

■The Zoning Board of Adjustment have postponed the public hearing on 290 Dover Road until March 23 at 6:30 p.m. The public hearing will be held at the fire department at 22 Main St.

■The Board of Selectmen announced that all Chichester Roads are posted until further notice.

■The Chichester PTO along with the Town of Chichester will sponsor an Easter Egg Drop on April 9 at Carpenter Memorial Park. The event will start at 10 a.m. with the helicopter drop, hayrides with the Easter Bunny and a separate toddler area. More information to come.

■Meetings to be held at the town meeting room this week: the Board of Selectmen will meet on Monday at 6 p.m., and the Planning Board will meet on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

■Story Time on Tuesdays at 1:30 p.m. and Wednesdays at 10 a.m. Join us for stories, songs and a snack. March themes include St. Patrick’s Day, Spring and rainbows. Masks are required except when eating.

■The Knitters Group will continue to meet on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. While attendance slowed down in the winter, people are starting to come back in.

■Movie Matinee on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., “Free Guy.” Ryan Reynolds stars as a bank teller who discovers he is actually a background player in an open-world video game and soon decides to become the hero of his own story in this action-packed comedy.

■Washington D.C. Trip Meeting for 8th Grade Students and their Parents on March 23 at 6:30 p.m. there will be an extremely important informational meeting for parents all students who are attending the trip this April. We would like both students and parents to attend. ■A local working group is forming to pursue the possibility of establishing a community garden in Epsom where resident families and individuals could grow their own food. ■Are you interested in playing varsity softball and are in the grades 9 to 12? Varsity Softball try-outs will begin on March 21 and will run through March 24 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the high school gymnasium.

■Are you in grades 6 to 8 and interested in playing for the middle school softball team? Try-outs will be on March 28 and 29 from 3 to 4 p.m. in the high school gymnasium.

■ The Victory Workers 4-H Club is holding their annual plant sale of 10 inch hanging baskets and 24 inch window boxes. As well as hanging baskets ($25) and flower boxes ($30)! This is a great fundraiser for our local Victory Workers 4-H Club!  Delivery is the weekend of Mother’s Day, great gifts to give.  Plants are locally grown in Loudon, at Pleasant View Gardens. ■The Pittsfield Food Pantry has been chosen to benefit from Northwood’s Hannaford Bloomin 4 good campaign. For every bouquet sold in March, the Pittsfield Food Pantry will receive $1. Stop by to pick one up to support the pantry.

■ Please consider sending cards of encouragement to Sailors and Marines on the USS Green Bay.  A local family has a son serving on the ship and says they are all struggling right now.  It would be great to get some mail!  Please send your cards to Walter Parelius, 25 Amherst Dr., Center Barnstead NH 03225.  He and his family will collect the cards and will send them to the troops.

■Due to illness and lack of personnel the center must reduce its hours. We are only open for Bingo on Mondays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to noon. ■The Pittsfield Senior Center is looking for a coordinator that will assist the Resource Manager with day-to-day operations of the senior center. The hours are Monday through Friday, morning and early afternoons, 25 hours per week. Perfect hours to work around school children’s schedules. ■It is with a heavy heart that the PHS Alumni Association Executive Committee has decided to postpone the All-Class Reunion for one more year.  We have concluded that it is too early in the evolution of the pandemic for us to extend financial and human resources for an event that ultimately may need to be canceled or will be compromised by some people’s reluctance in being in a large crowd.  We look forward to starting the planning process in the fall of 2022 for a wonderful, well-attended event in July of 2023.  If you are interested in joining the All-Class Planning Committee, please contact Andi Riel at pittsfieldtowncrier@hotmail.com.

■Pittsfield Youth Workshop (PYW) youth are collecting donations for Old Dogs Go to Helen! This nonprofit supports abandoned senior dogs, so that they can spend their final years living their best life thanks to proper medical care and loving homes. Donations we are looking for include, but are not limited to: blankets, towels, paper towels, dog beds, toys, treats, leashes, and collars. Lightly loved items are appreciated and accepted! There will be a main collection box at PYW to drop off donations. ■The Pittsfield Historical Society continues to raise funds for the new museum and headquarters.  A commemorative garden on the Museum grounds is being worked on.  The “BUY-A-BRICK” project affords an opportunity for people to buy a brick to honor yourself, loved ones past or present or whomever you wish to remember.
