The Sunapee Police Department arrested 38 teenagers Thursday night in connection with an alleged underage drinking party, according to a statement released Friday.
Police responded to a report of intoxicated teenagers throwing bottles into Otter Pond in the area of Georges Mills Cottages on Route 11 shortly after 11 p.m. on Thursday. Once on the scene, officers confirmed a large gathering of underage persons, along with a substantial quantity of alcohol.
A total of 38 teenagers were taken into custody and transported to the Sunapee Police Department where they were processed and released to relatives on personal recognizance bail, according to the release. The alcohol was confiscated.
All of the teenagers are scheduled to be arraigned in Newport Circuit Court on Aug. 1. Sunapee police was assisted at the scene by New London police and New Hampshire State police.
