The Contoocook Carry Volunteer Day has been rescheduled for Nov. 19 at 9 a.m. at the Sean Powers Wood Bank (located at the Hopkinton Transfer Station). The Congoran family started the wood bank in 2008 and each November since then volunteers gather to cut, split, stack, and deliver wood. The Contoocook Carry Community Fund is dedicated to providing fuel assistance (wood, oil, wood pellets, propane) to ensure our neighbors don’t have to chose between buying medicine, putting food on the table, or keeping warm.
A graveside wreath laying will commemorate President Franklin Pierce’s 218th birthday on Nov. 22 at 10 a.m. in Old North Cemetery, at 141 N. State St. The wreath is sent annually from the White House and commemorates the president’s date of birth and contributions serving in the country’s highest office. Members of the New Hampshire Army National Guard and the Pierce Brigade will lay the wreath, present the colors and a salute. Members of the public are invited to attend the ceremonial wreath laying. A reception will follow at the Piece Manse, 14 Horseshoe Pond Land, where light refreshments will be served.
The Winni Players Community Theatre will be presenting their annual staged radio drama once again. This year’s selection, Vintage Hitchcock: A Live Radio Play is an adaptation of three Hitchcock films written by Joe Landry. It will be performed at the Playhouse from Nov. 10 to 13. Performances are Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m. Friday evening’s performance will be an Enhanced Safety Performance where there will be social distancing between parties and masks will be required. The Meredith Parks & Recreation Department will be holding its 11th annual Craft Fair on Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Meredith Community Center. The premise of this craft fair is homemade/handmade crafts, foods and items – we are looking to help local crafters while stimulating the economy and giving back to our community! The Tapply-Thompson Community Center (TTCC) is sponsoring its Annual One Stop Christmas Shop for Kids on Nov. 22 and 25 from 4 to 7 p.m. This is an opportunity for children in preschool through 8th grade to shop for all family, friends, and teachers in one easy stop. Helpers will be available to assist younger children with their shopping. All gifts will be wrapped and tagged before they leave. There are many items under $1 and most items are under $6. The United Church of Penacook will hold a Christmas Craft Fair and Bake Sale on Nov. 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Crafters will offer hand-crafted home décor, holiday decorations, knit/crochet goods, stuffed toys, jams and jellies, handbags, artisan soaps, and more.
