Concord’s Jacob Szulc and the PSU football team, fresh off its first Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference title, has been selected to finish second following a vote of the league’s nine head coaches. PSU, which finished last season as MASCAC Co-Champions with Framingham State University, collected two first place votes to finish with 52 points. Framingham State was voted the preseason favorite after earning five first place votes and 60 points. Szculc will likely be the Panthers top receiving target. Through the first four games last season, Szulc was second in the nation with 10 touchdown receptions before injury limited him to just 10 catches through the remainder of the year.
Concord’s Irene Kigugu and the PSU women’s tennis team were picked to finish third in the Little East Conference in 2018, following a vote of the conference’s ten head coaches. The Panthers went 10-5 last year. Kigugu, a senior, is expected to be a major contributor.
New Hampshire Wrestling Officials Association is looking for high school and youth officials for the upcoming season. The NHWOA will be holding an apprentice clinic on Sept. 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Camp Mi-Te-Na in Alton. If interested, contact NHWOA president Rick Ross at 396-8238.

Public roller skating nights are returning this summer to the Douglas N. Everett Arena on Friday and Sunday nights. Admission is $5 and skate rentals are available for $5. Skating hours are 6-8 p.m. on Fridays and 5-7 p.m. on Sundays. Boscawen Old Home Day Golf Classic will be held Thursday at Den Brae Golf Course in Sanbornton. Andover Lions Club 13th Annual Golf Tournament will be held at the Country Club of New Hampshire in Sutton on Sept. 17. NFL Flag Football is being offered by Concord Parks and Recreation. It is a league for boys and girls, ages 6-11. The league provides boys and girls the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of football while playing in a safe environment. The league runs Sundays from Sept. 9-Oct. 21. Ages 6-8 meet from 9:30-11:30 a.m., ages 9-11 meet from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and ages 12-14 meet 1:30-3:30 p.m. Final signup deadline is Friday.

FieldHouse Sports Indoor Facility fall indoor soccer leagues are accepting registrations. Leagues offered for adults are men 18-plus, men 30-plus, women 25-plus and adult coed. CHaD Battle of the Badges Hockey Championship is set for March 16 at SNHU Arena in Manchester. Tryouts for Team Fire are Sept. 22 (2-3 p.m.), Sept. 28 (7:15-8:15 p.m.) and Oct. 6 (3:15-4:15 p.m.). Tryouts for Team Police are Sept. 22 (3:15-4:15 p.m.), Sept. 28 (6-7 p.m.) and Oct. 6 (2-3 p.m.). All tryouts are at Sullivan Arena at Saint Anselm College. Potential players must attend at least one tryout. Eligible participants include local and state police officers, sheriffs, marshals, homeland security, dispatchers, and corrections officers; full and part-time, call, and volunteer firefighters, dispatchers, and EMT/paramedics. Rosters will be announced in October with orientation, fundraising, and practices beginning in November. The event and its participants raise money for Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth.
