Middle school softball

Youth softball

Royal Bank of Canada defeated Smokeshack, 18-7, in the first round of the AAA 11U Concord National Youth Softball playoffs. For RBC, Sailor Vega pitched three incredible innings, Anna Simms had two big hits at the plateย and Taylor LaTorra made four put outs in the field.

Sunset League baseball

Grappone knocked off Colby-Sawyer, 8-7, in the opening game of the Sunset League โ€“ย the countryโ€™s oldest amateur baseball league. For Colby-Sawyer, Cole Johnston (2-for-4, home run), Jake Choiniere (2-for-4, double, triple) and Noah Bolduc (2-for-2, double) led the Charger offense. Kyle Evans pitched a clean inning of relief.

Youth baseball

Concord Little Leagueโ€™s S&W Sports split a pair of games this past week, beating Family Vision, 14-6, and losing to Auburn, 10-3. Andrew King went 4-for-4 with a leadoff homer, Tyler Mayo had a home run and played well defenseively, and Wyatt Rockwell earned the save with six strikeouts and he also hit a home run in the victory. Lucas Golden hit a home run for Family Vision. Mayo and Rockwell also homered in the loss to Auburn.

โ– In Babe Ruth baseball, Rowley Agency defeated Banks Chevrolet. Colby Nyhan and Henry Elliott led the Rowley offense with three hits apiece. Quinn Sullivan had two hits โ€“ including a two-run double โ€“ย and Connor McGahan crushed a bases-clearing triple. For Banks, Rowan Arndt had two hits and Tyler Fennelly hit a home run.

โ– The Concord Little League AAAย Eagles won a pair of games this past week, prevailing over Dark Side Customs, 12-6, and Schnitzer Steel, 12-4. Against DSC, Leo MacBride (two innings pitched, five strikeouts) and Frederik Fjeldsted (two innings, five strikeouts) pitched well, whileย Tucker Kirshneur (hit, two runs), Owen Rumfelt (hit, run), Carden Aldridge (hit, run)ย and Bryce Moran (four walks, run) led the offense. Against Schnitzer,ย Maddox Harvey pitched the first 2.1 innings, recording four strikeoutsย and CardenAldridge pitched the final 1.2 innings with five strikeouts of his own. Cronin Corriveau for registered his first hit of the season, whileย Harvey (two hits, two runs) and Wyatt MacDonald (two hits, run) also helped power the offense.
