Multiple local girls competed in both the State Championship golf qualifiers and the Medal division in the individual states’ match at Campbell’s Scottish Highlands.

The 13 girls who averaged below 50 strokes this season competed to earn their spot in the state championship, while the 20 who averaged over 50 competed in the Medal division on Saturday, Oct. 4.

Bishop Brady junior Mady Savary finished third, four over the 71 par course. She was just behind Oyster River senior Teagan Nadeau (+0) and Manchester Central sophomore Josie Lefebvre (+2).

Savary had three birdies, four pars and had a consistent day on the course, going two over on the front and back nine, respectively. Nadeau eagled on the second hole and finished strong with birdies on the last three holes to secure her win.

She will move on to compete in the Girls’ State Championship final on Oct. 18, and has all but secured a spot in the 34th Annual New England Interscholastic Golf Championship for the third consecutive year. Savary finished tied for 6th at the New England tournament the last two years.

In the Medal Division, Hopkinton junior Molly Hodgdon shot 50 strokes and earned 4th place. She finished strong with a par on the 17th hole thanks to a near-perfect second stroke.

“Molly’s one of the kindest, hardest-working, most positive athletes I know. She’s a smart, steady golfer and is a joy to coach,” Hopkinton coach Ted Wells said.

Also in the championship qualifiers, Bow’s Julianna Cusson finished 12th, 35-over, and just missed the cut for the state final.

To round out the group in the medal division, Kearsarge senior Leah LaMothe finished 10th (+19) and Bishop Brady’s Giulia Conserva 13th (+23).
