A man is deceased after a house fire in Concord early Saturday morning.

Just before 3:30 a.m., firefighters responding to a medical alert call saw smoke coming out of the front door of a house on Rhodora Court in Penacook, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

They immediately began to search the home, found a woman sleeping inside and rescued her with no injuries. Sheโ€™s now receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.

A man was found deceased on a separate floor of the house, and officials have not yet released his identity. His body is expected to undergo an autopsy on Sunday.

The exterior of the house remains mostly intact, save for a boarded up window on the second floor.

A preliminary investigation found that there were no functional smoke alarms on the floor of the house where the fire started, according to the state fire marshalโ€™s office.

The fire marshal, along with the Concord Fire Department and Concord Police Department are working to find how the fire started. Investigators are urging anyone with relevant information to contact the New Hampshire State Fire Marshallโ€™s office at 603-223-4289.
