Keep Rundlett name

I am a lifelong Concord South Ender. My parents went to Rundlett when it was at the old Kimball School site, I went to Rundlett soon after it opened on South Street, my children went to Rundlett and if my grandchildren lived in Concord they would go to Rundlett. My point of repetition is to highlight the family/historical continuity developed over several generations of teens attending “Rundlett” regardless of physical location.

The school district now seems determined to rename the school when the new building is done. Based on the overwhelming support for โ€œRebuild at Rundlett,โ€ I suspect that many Concord citizens want the name to stay the same as well. Why change it just for the sake of change โ€” and thereby continue the controversy?

The original notice requesting suggestions for a new name went only to people associated with the schools with a quick response timeline of Feb. 20. Hey, what about the rest of us who have been invested in these schools for years and continue to pay significant taxes for the benefit of current Concord students? I think we should have a say too.

If you think the name should stay Rundlett please send an email to Superintendent of Schools Timothy Herbert therbert@sau8.org, since he is the person designated to make recommendations to the School Board.
