As Salisbury residents consider how to allocate their tax dollars at town meeting next week, they will find that not much has changed in terms of finances from previous years.

With a proposed operating budget of $1.9 million and warrant articles that would deposit money into different reserve funds, the town’s total proposed budget comes in at about $2.2 million.

If everything passes at the meeting, residents will be looking at a total tax impact of $5.75 per $1000 in property value, equivalent to a tax bill of $2,300 for a $400,000 house.

Last year’s total budget sat at just over the $2.1 million mark, but the town only spent around $1.8 million.

Some of the biggest financial items outside the operating budget include a warrant article that would allow the town to deposit $100,000 into the Fire Rescue & Emergency Services Equipment Capital Reserve Fund and another that would permit $161,871 to be put into the Highway Equipment Capital Reserve Fund.

Salisbury’s town meeting will take place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10 at Salisbury Town Hall, located at 645 Old Turnpike Road. Voting will take place earlier that same day at town hall from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.
