Bradford, NH – Charles I. Goodale, 79, of Bradford, New Hampshire, passed away on April 27, 2026, surrounded by family and loved ones. Charlie was a devoted father, respected leader, and a man whose life was defined by service, integrity, and compassion.
Born on November 24, 1946, in Burlington Vermont Charlie was the son of Freeman and Thelda Goodale. Charlie grew up in both Vermont and New Hampshire, settling in Bradford in 1966.
Charlie dedicated much of his life to public service. Charlie served with distinction as Chief of Campus police at New Hampshire Hospital for over four decades. Charlie was known for his steady leadership, commitment to safety and deep respect for both his colleagues and those entrusted with his care. Charlie’s work was more than just a career it was a calling rooted in the care of others.
Beyond his professional life, Charlie was a loving father to his children, Laura Heselton of Washington, Charles Goodale of Franklin, Lisa Witham of Bradford, Brande Wood of Bradford. He found Joy in being at home with his puppies and being able to tinker on his car, collecting matchboxes among other things. He was an artist, painter, drawer and so much more. Charlie had a deep love for all types of airplanes. Charlie will be remembered for his sense of humor, story telling and the unwavering amount of knowledge that he would bestow on all.
He is survived by his wife Susan Goodale, brother Raymond Goodale, sister Joan Goodale. Charlie was a proud grandfather of 10 grandchildren and of 8 great-grandchildren and a proud grandfather of 2 loving pups. He is preceded by his mother and father, two brothers and his sister.
Services will be held on May 9, 2026, at 11am. It will be held at Bradford Community church 88 West Main st. Bradford NH.
