Two people were extracted from their vehicles after a head-on collision in Boscawen Saturday afternoon.

Boscawen police and fire departments responded to the accident near 151 King St. around 2:19 p.m. and found a Honda Pilot and a Nissan Frontier with heavy front-end damage, Police Chief Jason Killary said. Fire personnel extracted two elderly people from the vehicles, taking several minutes to do so.

The occupants were transported to Concord Hospital with assistance from theย Concord Fire Department and the Penacook Rescue Ambulance. Killary declined to release the identities of the drivers and did not know the status of their injuries.

Killary said an investigation into the crash is ongoing, with factors such as weather, traffic and road conditions being examined. Boscawen Fire Chief Timothy Kenney said the Nissan Frontier most likely crossed over the center line, as it was found near the far left guardrail facing south.

Killary added that the southern end of King Road tends to see faster speeds because the road widens out for the intersection of Routes 3 and 4 and the speed limit increases to 50 miles per hour.

“Watch your speed and make sure you’re paying attention to the road,” Killary said, noting a recent increase in car accidents in New Hampshire.
