Close to 100 representatives from local nonprofits filled NHTI’s Sweeney Hall on Tuesday evening for the first-ever News & Nonprofits: Telling Stories That Matter.
The Monitor held this event in collaboration with Granite United Way. Our shared goal was to shine light on how local media covers nonprofits, what makes a compelling story, how organizations can best interface with us and where our work intersects.
The idea for this event was born at a Reader Advisory Board meeting earlier this year, when Granite United Way’s Director of Community Engagement Christina Huntress locked eyes with Concord Monitor Community Editor Rachel Wachman across the table. The two were classmates in Leadership Greater Concord and share a passion for bringing people together around a mission.
The event was the product of their hard work and community-oriented thinking.
Thank you to Granite United Way for partnering with us, as well as NHTI for lending us their space and Market Basket for sponsoring snacks for the event. And most importantly, we’d like to extend a ‘thank you’ to everyone who attended. We hope to keep the conversation going in the coming weeks and months.
