State funding

It is rich that Dan Innis, State Senator from Bradford, blames Democrats for higher property taxes when his Republican party has controlled the state house and legislature forever. Isn’t it the state’s responsibility to fund government? But no. Dan Innis is comfortable not funding government to the extent needed; put it back on the towns to make up for the lack of state support for education. New Hampshire ranks almost last in rankings of state support for education. Whose fault is that?

School funding needs have not decreased over the years and state funding of education has decreased. I suppose that doesn’t matter if you don’t have children. But that is not the way to have a outstanding education system which benefits all of us. That is not the Democrats fault.

It is time for the state to step up its responsibility to fund the government. I personally favor an income tax on income over $300,000 per year. But there are other solutions. What is lacking is the courage to do something other than blame Democrats.
