EFAs help children across the state
As a taxpayer and mother, I feel honored to have access to Education Freedom Accounts for my family. New Hampshire does not use a voucher system like other states do. Our program is entirely different, and the money children are awarded is grant money.
EFAs continue to allow families and children school choice. They save local school budgets thousands of dollars by removing children from their system all while families still pay the full amount in property taxes to their local district.
This program is also bi-partisan and it helps children who come from families from all sides of the political aisle. EFA grants don’t care whether a child’s mom or dad votes red, blue or purple. They only care about ensuring children have a choice in where they receive a quality education. EFAs help children to be placed in learning environments where they feel safe and comfortable to relax enough to learn.
When EFAs were first law, there was an income limit that blocked many families from accessing the grant money for their children. The income limit never made sense as the needs of children don’t change depending on arbitrary numbers. A child from a middle-class family is just as deserving of educational help as a child from a lower-class family. Everyone needs to take a step back and remember this program is about helping children receive an adequate quality education. Isn’t that the law?
