Setting the record straight on West End Farm Trail
Sam Evans-Brown’s recent letter contains serious allegations about my family that are simply false.
First, I have never cut down a tree on City property. Any trees I have removed were on my own land.
Second, our dogs have never attacked anyone using the trail. They are trained therapy dogs that work with autistic children, elderly residents and people with disabilities. Portraying these animals as dangerous is outrageous.
Following his letter’s circulation on Nextdoor, another individual even alleged that I pulled a firearm on someone. This accusation is categorically false.
These are serious allegations. I submitted a Right-to-Know request for police records, and no reports documenting these alleged incidents were produced.
Others, including Heather Staples, who does not reside in Concord, have repeated similarly inaccurate claims. Spreading accusations without verifying the facts is irresponsible.
We purchased our property in 2003, years before the City acquired the adjoining land in 2010 or established the trail. Contrary to what some have suggested, we did not move next to an existing public trail.
The City subsequently constructed part of the trail across our private property without permission and installed a parking area behind our home without notifying us.
Our concerns involve years of trespassing, privacy violations, inappropriate activities and safety issues associated with the trail and parking area.
