The right person for the job
The County Attorney is one of the most important jobs on the ballot. Whoever holds it leads the office that prosecutes crimes committed against our communities. Merrimack County has stayed a safe place to live largely because we tend to elect County Attorneys who know the work and how to work with our police departments, and put in the effort to do the job well. When we occasionally choose the wrong leader, the county’s justice system suffers. This year, we can avoid that mistake.
After one of the most competitive primaries I’ve seen in this county, Meg Hagaman now faces a general election opponent who never went through the same public vetting: an uncontested primary, almost no public campaigning and no campaign finance reports filed to date. Republican or Democrat, that concerns me, and it should be a red flag for you. You can read the recent news about Meg’s opponent yourself. I’d rather tell you why Meg is the best candidate for the job, regardless of party.
Meg’s record speaks for itself: an entire career in New Hampshire’s criminal justice system, successful trials at the highest levels, and proven leadership as Chief of the Criminal Bureau at the New Hampshire Department of Justice. That last is VERY significant.
She will serve with excellence as she has done in every previous role. If you want to keep a criminal justice system we can trust, vote for Meg Hagaman on Nov. 3.
