It wasn’t by a wide margin, but Coe-Brown’s Evan Tanguay ran his way to the top spot at Saturday’s Battle of the Border, leading the boys’ cross country team to a second-place finish and picking up Monitor Player of the Week honors along the way.

In the 14th annual event that pits Massachussetts against New Hampshire, Tanguay beat out 117 other runners, finishing the 5K run at Alvrine High School in 16:23.11.

Tanguay held off Concord’s Forest Mackenzie (second place. 16:34.52) for the victory and was the only Coe-Brown runner to finish inside the top 10.
