A ranch-style home in Concord sustained fire damage in its basement Saturday afternoon.

The Concord Fire Department responded to an alarm at 19 Brookside Dr. around 3:13 p.m. and saw smoke coming from the roof, said Deputy Chief Mick Costello. Crew deployed a handline on the fire by 3:24 p.m. and extinguished the flames rapidly.

โ€œThey did a quick attack and saved a lot of property,โ€ he said.

Costello said there was heavy fire damage to the one-story residence’s basement and some smoke and building damage to the rest of the house. The origin and cause of the fire is currently under investigation, he said.

Nobody was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.

Residents will be displaced for a short amount of time. Property records listed the home’s owner as Charles Eastwood, but Costello could not say how many people occupied the home.

Concord Fire received help from Allenstown, Bow and Boscawen with Penacook Fire Rescue providing coverage at the station.
