Former colleagues, program alumni, family and friends all joined Clint Klose as called the curtains on this final show with the Concord High School drama club.
After their closing night performance of the hit musical “Dear Evan Hansen,” seniors in the show’s cast and crew thanked the directors.
Also retiring this year is set designer John Hatab, whose work on this year’s musical included a kaleidoscope of screens that took the audience into the digital world where much of “Dear Evan Hansen” unfolds. Hatab has been with the drama program alongside Klose for the last 15 years.
Senior Jordan Floor, who is headed off to study theater arts and production and design, recalled telling Hatab that he was setting aside baseball so that he could dive deeper into the theater program.
“I was really sad about it, one the hardest decisions I’ve ever made,” Floor said. Hatab offered to play catch with him at CRTC if he found himself missing the sport too much.
Thanking dedicated parents, brave students and his own supportive family โ including his 101-year-old mother in the audience โ Klose was thankful.
He ended the night with a message for the actors and crew on stage.
“Please hold on to what you have learned, what you’ve created and the memories that we’ve made,” he told them. “Make a difference, create meaningful art, and please know that I will never forget you.”
