Glenn Currie (Monitor letters, April 12) forgot to mention that the 1964 Civil Rights and 1965 Voting Rights acts were shepherded through Congress by Southern Democrat and President Lyndon B. Johnson. It’s another red herring. Trump Republicans are trying to reclaim the awesome days of the Republican Party, i.e., the Civil War, when they fought physically and politically for freedom and equality. Trump’s Republican Party is supported by neo-Nazis, white nationalists and Klan members. “Trumpers” (as I am told followers like to be called) appreciate their presence: “Very good people.”
