With one public “virtual concert” under its belt, The Andover Community Coffeehouse will offer a second live event on June 19, beginning at 7 p.m. in your home, on the screen of your computer or mobile device. Featured performers are the folk/Americana guitar-and banjo duo Old Horse. Powered by Zoom, a user-friendly technology compatible with most computers, the June 19 event can be viewed live by up to 100 virtual attendees. To register in advance (which is suggested), and for more information, contact TheAndoverHub@gmail.com. Performing from their home in the Boston area will be Sarah and Jason Eslick – aka Old Horse – an acoustic folk/Americana folk duo. Jason Eslick grew up in Andover. The June concert will also include up to a half-dozen local musicians performing live from their own homes . Those wishing to request a ten-minute (or two-song) time slot on a first-come first-served basis should contact The Andover Community Hub via email (TheAndoverHub@gmail.com) as soon as possible for more information. The concert will be free of charge, although viewers will be able to make a contribution electronically to the featured performer via instructions to be given during the event. Sponsor of the concert is Tim Gallagher’s Windswept Farm in Andover. The Andover Community Coffeehouse operates under the umbrella of The Andover Community Hub, a non-profit community-centric organization located in Andover’s old town hall at 157 Main St. in Andover Village. Take a virtual ride with the Lakes Region Rotary, as the Club hosts its 8th annual car show from July 25 through August 1. This year’s event features a virtual tour of cars from all over the country. Viewers will have the opportunity to take a leisurely scroll through the entries and vote for their favorites in a number of categories. The cool thing about the virtual show is that participants can enter their car, and have it featured and viewed before a global audience without having to leave their driveway. Car owners will be able to register their entry beginning July 11, with a deadline of July 24. Up to four pictures of the show car may be submitted, along with a brief description of the car’s features. People can register online and begin viewing the entries and categories of vehicles July 11 at lakesregionrotary.org/carshow. The show will run for one week beginning July 25, allowing viewers plenty of time to vote for their favorite cars for the People’s Choice Award, and a panel of judges will select the winners of each category with cash prizes awarded. As the main purpose of the show is to raise funds for local charities, the cost to register a vehicle is $10, and voting is only $1 per vote. This year the Rotary Club is supporting a children’s charity that works year-round to provide children of the Greater Lakes Region with clothing and other necessities – the Santa Fund of the Greater Lakes Region. The Club will also donate raised money to the New Hampshire Food Bank in support of their efforts responding to the food insecurity needs of our fellow citizens; needs that have increased during the virus pandemic. For more information, visit lakesregionrotary.org or email carshow@lakesregionrotary.org.

The board of directors of the Suncook Valley Chorale has announced that the Fall 2020 season and January 2021 concerts have been canceled due to the COVID-19 virus. Board President Candie Garvin said in a statement to Chorale members: “This decision is not taken lightly, and is based on the highest priority of safety for our membership and our audiences. The Chorale’s motto is “Sing for Joy!” For now, we are compelled to sing at a distance from one another, but we are eagerly looking forward to the day when we can gather again in both safety and song.” The Suncook Valley Chorale is Concord’s non-auditioned community chorus. Established in 1982 and directed by Scott Lounsbury, Chorale members range from teenagers to octogenarians who are united by a love for singing.
