The confirmed number of new COVID-19 cases Monday was the largest in a month, a surprising change from the recent trend of declining cases – although not too much should be read into a single day’s report.
The state said 46 new cases were confirmed Monday, the most since June 27 and almost twice the number that had been reported on most days during the past week.
Results from several different laboratories are combined into the daily report from the Department of Health and Human Services and different companies take different amounts of time doing the tests, so the surge could be an accidental combination of results from different days. COVID-19 test reports on Mondays are often erratic of delays reporting over the weekend.
On the good side, no new hospitalizations or deaths were reported. Fewer than one person per day has died with the disease in New Hampshire over the past two weeks.
