The Greater Meredith Program has partnered with New Hampshire Music Festival to bring classical music and local art to the Meredith Sculpture Walk along Lake Winnipesaukee and in the center of town, on July 27 from 10 a.m. to noon. A creative morning Arts Walk will be set up for the public. Musicians from the New Hampshire Music Festival will perform at sculpture sites within Hesky Park and in pocket parks along Main Street. Area artists will be on hand to paint, draw, sketch and create alongside the Festival musicians. Meredith Sculpture Walk docents will be present to talk about the sculptures. On hand will be Sculpture Walk brochures as well as Meredith’s “Do the Loop” brochures to guide the public from site to site and afterward to enjoy the afternoon in Meredith relaxing, shopping, and dining. Event to be canceled in case of rain. The Greater Meredith Program is a nonprofit community development organization seeking to enhance economic vitality, historical and cultural heritage, and town-wide beautification. On July 24, the Gilmanton Historical Society will lead a walking tour of Beech Grove Cemetery. This beautiful, but little known, cemetery in The Corners is the resting place of many of the early residents of that part of town. The tour will begin at 6 p.m. and will be led by John Dickey, President of the Society. Please wear good walking shoes as the ground is uneven and walking will be required. To access the cemetery, use Greeley Farm Road (the first right off of Route 140 when headed toward Gilmanton Iron Works from the junction of Routes 107 and 140). Parking will be along Greeley Farm Road. Someone will be there to show folks where to park and how to find the walking path into the cemetery. For information contact John Dickey at 267-6098 or email jdickey@metrocast.net.
