I am an American citizen originally from the Dominican Republic, Christian missionary and international human rights activist. I am writing to you to demand that the state of New Hampshire ban the method “lateral vascular neck restraint” utilized by Granite State law enforcement officers. This barbaric tactic must be abolished to eliminate the possibility for another senseless murder like that of George Floyd. This type of force cannot be used anymore on any person.
I am still traumatized, as many others around the world are, after viewing the video-recorded murder of George Floyd, which took place on my son’s birthday. Due to all the continuous systemic racism and murders that have occurred in the United States of America at the hands of the police that swear to serve and protect all lives of this nation, I am constantly in agonizing worry for the well-being of my three adult children who all live here in New Hampshire. They, like many other innocent none-white individuals, could on any day at any time fall victim to wrongful racist and deadly police brutality. Now every year on my eldest son’s birthday I will be grimly reminded of Floyd’s untimely death and know my son, or any of my children, could be the next victim and senselessly have their lives taken away.
The use of this lethal and inhumane force must be banned from the state of New Hampshire. Immediately.
