Among the New Hampshire state Senate candidates aspiring to represent the people of Concord, Warner, Hopkinton, and Henniker, Candace Bouchard will get my vote on Sept. 8, and I encourage you to vote for her also.

Candace was an effective member of the N.H. House of Representatives for the people of the city of Concord from 1998 to 2014 and is currently serving her sixth term as the Ward 9 city councilor. Ward 9, known as the โ€œHeights,โ€ is the most ethnically, financially, and age diverse ward within the city. She knows how to get things done at both the state and local government level.

She brings tools and knowledge to serve her constituents and to work with other legislators, including senators with whom she worked on joint committees (on both sides of the aisle).

As a new state senator she will need very little training or study of the issues.

My professional association with Candace came when I served as chief financial officer for the city of Concord from 1981 to 2010. During these years, working with the Fiscal Policy Advisory Committee, we developed balanced budgets, added performance measures, established financial processes, introduced technology resources, many programs, and measures that continue to this day. Candace, first elected in 2007, has continually been a member on the Fiscal Policy Advisory Committee.

I could always count on Candace having done her homework, asking germane questions, and ultimately taking and making an informed vote.

Vote for Candace on Sept. 8 and Nov. 3.

JAMES HOWARD Sr.
