The Professional Golfers Association of America announced in a release on Thursday that Larry Kelley, a 28-year member of the PGA, joined the PGA board of directors. He will be the District 1 director for the golf governing body.

He was elected at the 106th PGA Annual Meeting in Phoenix and will represent the Connecticut, New England and northeastern New York PGA Sections.

“I am humbled to be elected to the board of directors, which consists of such a strong group of PGA members,” Kelley said in the release. “I’m excited to contribute on behalf of District 1 and continue to grow the game we all love.”

In addition to his work with the PGA, Kelley is the founder and owner of Five Star Golf Cars & Utility Vehicles based in Laconia. According to his LinkedIn profile, he’s worked in the golf industry both as a professional and in sales, earned his bachelor’s degree from Vermont’s Castleton University and currently lives in Ludlow, Vt.

Kelley has worked within the New England PGA section previously as the president for the section and currently as the chair of its employment committee.

“It’s truly a privilege to serve alongside such a distinguished group of mentors and leaders on the PGA board of directors,” John Lindert, the newly elected PGA president, said in the release.

“The passionate PGA members volunteer their time and share a common goal of working tirelessly to elevate our profession. Together, they ensure the game of golf is well positioned for future growth and success.”
