Recently you published a letter that mentioned the NRA and their grading of our state and federal politicians through report cards.
A while back a lady came here from Russia who was warmly welcomed by the NRA and made a guest of honor at some of their conferences. She also hobnobbed with some noted Republicans. In turn she arranged for NRA leaders and supporters to go to Russia and meet government officials there, including the deputy prime minister. More recently, this lady, Maria Butina, pleaded guilty to being an agent for the Russian government. The NRA has been completely silent on this whole matter, as if it never happened.
What went on is well documented by numerous news outlets and a terrific summary by Wikileaks (under her name). There were some nefarious characters involved, including Jack Abramoff (Yes! Him!). It’s hard to fathom why the NRA and its cohorts haven’t been brought before the House Judiciary Committee. It would be interesting to see what kind of a report card the committee would give them.
