More than 100 people held signs and rallied in front of the State House on Thursday night following the departure of Jeff Sessions as Attorney General.

The “Nobody is above the law” rally was meant to protest the installation of Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker, who will have oversight of special counsel Robert Mueller who is in charge of the Russia investigation. Rally participants called for the special investigation to continue without interruption.

Similar rallies were held Thursday in Manchester, Conway, and Portsmouth, one day after President Donald Trump forced Sessions out and announced Whitaker would be acting attorney general.

A coalition of 18 state attorneys general and others have called for Whitaker to recuse himself from the special counsel's Russia probe, referencing comments he made criticizing Mueller's investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.
