Letter: Plunkett will fight for young working families

In September, I’ll be casting my vote for Leah Plunkett for Executive Council.

Leah is a strong and committed leader. She has been one of the few to ask the hard questions of Gov. Chris Sununu on his school reopening “non-plan”– a failed approach that compromises the health and safety of our students, educators, and communities at a time when we need decisive and informed leadership.

Science matters. And so do our public schools and all the communities they lift up. And so does representation. It’s time to have more of it on behalf of young working families in New Hampshire. These are the reasons why Leah will have my vote. She has school-aged kids of her own – where there isn’t anyone on the Executive Council who does now. She has a history of advocating for students in public schools as a legal aid lawyer. She’s an experienced educator who is going to make sure that our teachers are safe. And, she asks tough questions for all of us at a time when that’s what we need most.
